WEDDING PARTY
Learn a bit more about the people we are blessed to have by our side on our big day. We couldn't imagine doing it without them!
Nellie's Gals:
Alexandria Fraize, Maid of HonorAli is my cousin and we've been close from a very young age. She has been by my side my whole life and it only feels right to have her as my maid of honor on this big day.Fun Fact: Despite her extremely tender personality, Ali is actually a daredevil. If she isn’t hiking up a mountain, she's probably skiing or biking down one.
Kimberly Zuccaro, Maid of HonorKimmie is my cousin, but also one of my closest friends. I have countless memories growing up with her, and I am so glad she will play a special part as my maid of honor.Fun Fact: Kimmie is a sporting dual threat – when she isn’t tearing up the field she is running the behind-the-scenes with her job in the athletic department.
Hannah Mitchell, BridesmaidHannah is the sister I've never had. She's the "Nellie" of the Mitchell Family with three older brothers. I have felt such a close bond with her from day one and it has been a treat to watch her grow up. It only feels complete to have her as a bridesmaid.Fun Fact: Hannah is an all-around artist. She writes the most heartfelt cards, paints beautiful pictures, and has even taken up sewing. Lately, she has been channeling her creativity toward her nails and makeup.
Claire Callahan, BridesmaidClaire and I have been friends for over a decade (despite the fact that she's a huge New York Giants fan). She’s the funniest person I know and I trust her with everything, so it's only fitting to have her as my bridesmaid.Fun Fact: Claire is a trivia wizard. While she specializes in criminology, she can wipe the board in every episode of Jeopardy.
Gaby Marrapodi, BridesmaidGaby came into my life five years ago but has felt like family ever since. I enjoy all my time with her and am so glad she will join me as a bridesmaid on my greatest adventure yet.Fun Fact: Gaby is an exercise queen! If you are in need of a workout, visit Gaby at Pure Barre in D.C. where she manages.
Daniel's Guys:
Caleb Mitchell, Best ManCaleb was my first best friend and I look up to him despite the fact that he's my younger brother. I can’t imagine getting married without him by my side as my Best Man.Fun Fact: Caleb has some serious guitar talent, but his musical genius truly shines is in his voice. Give his music some love on all streaming platforms!
Noah Mitchell, Best ManNoah's my younger brother and has been my partner in business, adventuring, and other mischief since we were kids. I’m honored to have him as my Best Man.Fun Fact: Noah's in his element when he's in the great outdoors. He’s always down to go kayaking, have a bonfire, or try a new fishing spot (the proof is in the pudding: he owns 30+ fishing reels!)
Austin Brennan, GroomsmanAustin is Nellie’s brother and is one of my favorite people to spend time with, whether it be going on a hike, watching a game, or grabbing a plate of wings. I’m so happy he’s going to be my Groomsman.Fun Fact: Austin is a die-hard sports fanatic. His favorite team is the Celtics, but his fandom doesn't stop there – he's a walking encyclopedia of stats, rules, and history for just about every sport.
Cameron Brennan, GroomsmanCam is not just Nellie’s brother – he was also the first to make me feel like I was truly a part of the Brennan clan. He always reminds me that he has my back, so I appreciate that he’ll be with me as a Groomsman on the big day.Fun Fact: Whether he's sporting a new pair of kicks or riding off into the sunset on his motorcycle, Cam has earned his reputation as the "Joe Cool" of the family.
Lucas Brennan, GroomsmanLucas is Nellie’s older brother, but I look up to him as if he was my own. It means the world to me that he will be celebrating our wedding day with us as my Groomsman.Fun Fact: I'm convinced that there isn't a sport on this planet that Lucas can't master. His latest ventures include boxing and bowling.
OUR STORY
We’ve known each other for a decade – starting with our teacher assigning us as partners on a project during our freshman year of high school. We immediately had crushes on each other but remained “just friends” through years of sitting next to each other in class and on the bus rides to track meets. When we finally got the guts to start dating, we spent hours together talking in the parking lot after track practice (sorry Mom & Dad, practice didn’t actually go until 7:30pm). Being together felt so natural and it quickly became evident how perfect we were for each other.Throughout the past seven years together, whether we were sitting next to each other or separated by thousands of miles, we’ve grown more in love every day and have truly become each others’ best friend. We’ve known for a long time that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, but we’re so excited to finally make it official and celebrate our big day with you!
OUR ENGAGEMENT
11 | 12 | 2022 Húsafell, Iceland
Nellie's Version:It had always been a dream of mine to see the Northern Lights, so when Daniel and I traveled outside the US for the first time, it was a huge plus that we went to Iceland. When we arrived, the weather wasn’t in our favor, so we drove deep into the mountains to the only spot in all of Iceland where the clouds were forecasted to open up at night. We braved the cold, sitting wrapped in blankets on the side of the road while we watched the sky for Northern Lights. After a few hours of waiting, we celebrated the first glimpse of the Lights. Unfortunately, they faded away after only a few minutes. Almost three hours later, our patience paid off when they came out again – and were even brighter than before!Daniel pulled me into the road and asked me to stand still so he could get a photo of us under the Lights. To my surprise, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I was so overcome with joy that I started to cry, and it took me a while to even get the word "yes" out.Afterward, Daniel and I held each other and danced on the road for almost an hour. The Lights were there too, celebrating our engagement as they danced in the sky above us. I thought seeing the Northern Lights was my dream, but it paled in comparison to the excitement of getting to spend forever with him.
Daniel's Version:Years ago, Nellie shared with me her lifelong dream to see the Northern Lights, and even back then, I thought how special it would be to ask her to marry me under the Lights if we ever saw them together. When we finally booked a trip to go Northern Lights spotting in Iceland, my excitement grew as I found the perfect engagement ring and began plotting my proposal. The day we landed in Iceland, it felt like my best-laid plans were ruined, as the weather forecast showed clouds and rain, which would have prevented us from catching the Northern Lights. Thankfully, Nellie’s tenacity showed through the gloom as she faithfully refreshed the forecasts until she found a small area in the nearby mountains where we might spot the Northern Lights. That night, I was sweating bullets when the Lights came out only for a few minutes, and I didn’t have enough time to propose before they faded away. The stakes got even higher when Nellie asked to wear my coat (which had the ring in the pocket!) to stay warm.Luckily, Nellie didn’t find the ring – and a few hours after their brief cameo appearance, the Lights came back in full force. We jumped out of the car and I told Nellie to hold still for a photo, then asked her to marry me, and she said yes!
